As the very first block producer to get paid on Telos there have been a number of upgrades to the underlying EOSIO software from Block.one in the last 18 months, but the upgrade to version 2 of the software provides the potential for huge performance improvements due to changes with one of the components.

You can see from the graph the huge performance improvements achieved when deployed to the testnet servers. The upgrade employs a new virtual machine which makes execution times quicker, very much quicker in fact, you can see we upgraded on April 21st because the execution times dropped considerably.

At Telos UK our policy regarding upgrades is always to perform as much testing as possible of new versions before deploying them to production machines. This approach has stood us in good stead over the last 20 years with our other servers and web applications, perfectly adequate installations can be ruined by upgrading too early.

Having tested the current version 2.0.5 on testnet for a month, we have upgraded the mainnet i7 standby server and it is in synch ready to produce blocks. The plan has it being switched into live mainnet production today so we are eagerly awaiting those performance increases and look to return to a leading position in the BP performance rankings!
